Hi Cris

Thanks for your ideas. I am fairly certain, especially in races that dehydration is not a problem. I have had this trouble in the past where my stomach shut down and stopped absorbing any fluids as I had too high a concentration of carbs in my drink. I am now very careful to try and drink a 6-8% carb solution. During training it maybe a bit higher but in racing it is definitely in this zone. I guess I feel that my system uses a large amount of glucose as opposed to fueling itself with FFA. I have done some lactate testing on the road, not every 20min over a long ride but while riding at lbp over an hour and the lactate levels where stable. I haven't done any blood sugar level testing. Do you know of anywhere in Toronto I can have the steady state metabolic cart test done? I am also suprised how I can get light headed with sore legs in short 90-120min recovery rides, I find I always have to train with a carb/electrolyte drink and never just water. Most of the time (except in racing) once I consume some more carbs the light headedness and sore legs goes away but during my Ironmans I can never seem to get on top of it. Thanks for your help

Nigel
