I agree that it would be interesting if the speed on the trainer were to match the speed on the road for the same wattage. But there are so many variables on the road that it is really quite irrelevant. I never watch the speed when I work out on the trainer. It is much more important that the wattage is accurate. If I want to estimate my time trial time I need only run the model on the Analytical Cycling Website using the wattage that I have established from the trainer that I can push for that particular time duration.
