As always, you are able to put succinctly the necessary information...with one exception. What do you mean by BCAA?
I will try the 10/7/5/3 day A2 additions to my current regimine, and see if this old body can handle that intensity that often. My difficulty now seems to be able to run fast enough to get my heart rate to LBP-5, it doesn't hurt me cardiovascularly, but it sure does a number on my legs!
You were right, maybe I have chosen races which are too short.
By the way...my current plan is to race 1/2 marathon in February (training race), 1/2 Ironman end of June (try to improve placing over last year...need to drop 20 minutes off my bike time), and then XTERRA (1500swim/23km mountian bike/10km trail run)in September to try to qualify for World Championships in Maui for October.
I am really interested in talking with you regarding bike training. I am currently working on LBP improvement, but may need to focus on power/strength work in order to make the necessary improvements especially with the XTERRA being a 23km trail ride. No plan on repeating Ironman, but sometimes plans change.
By the way, I was really jealous seeing the training camp photos, wish we could have joined you. For sure, once I am done Anaesthesia in June, I will be able to schedule holidays around truly important events like Christmas, New Years, and training!
Thanks again for all your help.
