Hi Dan ,
If you only like to make a LBP test as the second part of a full FACT you can do this.
How :
For example you are interested in a cross country ski test to get your HR level resp LBP HR or you do it on the road with just having a HR watch and a Lctate analyzer.
Here one easy version .
You go for 10 - 15 min for a bvike ride.
Nonstop. The first4 - 5 min easy than speed up to medium ( as you would go perhaps for 1 hour ) than you go to hard as you would go for 15 - 20 min hard.
Summary : 15 min in 3 stages but non stop.
In the , resp at the last 1 min in the hard stage you check your HR a few times and memorize the level .
Ex. 182 / 184 / 185 /183 , now take the average.
At the end of this 15 min you take a lactate sample. It may be 6.5 mmol/L
( I will explan later what this may mean)
For the minet you just know you have lactate in the system . ( based on your intensity you would have known that already. )
Now you have a start for the LBP.
!83 / 6.5.
You drop to about 140 - 145 HR intensity and you bike for 4 - 5 min on this level.( stable HR )
Now after having stabalized your HR on average 143 as ex. you test your Lactate again.
it may be now 4.1.
Now you go about 10 beats higher for 4 - 6 min and test again and so on. Now you follow the theory of fact.
Summary :
As long Lactate is dropping you know you have simply spoken more oxygen than you need to move ( you metabolize lactate.
Even though you go faster ( higher HR )you still should see for 1 or 2 levels a drop of lactate.
You keep going as lactate increases again.
There will be some more info how we change some ideas on the protocol.
As you know it is an ongoing process and I may have once to start to explain the whole " development history " on our Web site.
For the moment I hope you get the main story.
Good luck in your testing and please ask back.
