Juerg,
My experience on "testing" people on PC's shows that for abut 6 months the results are likely to be completely different depending upon what cranks are used for the test.
Up until 6 months or so, enough time for the new muscles to become reasonably well adapted I would expect the following:
If the testing is done on PC's the subject must use relatively untrained muscles completely. No cheating. therefore, these muscles will go severely anaerobic sooner and the subjects results will be relatively poor and (I suspect) lactate will be relatively high.
If testing is done on regular cranks improvements will be seen from the get go. This is because regular cranks allow cheating so the subject can use the new muscles only as they are trained or revert back to the old ways when they get tired, but now with fresher muscles.
After 6 months or so, testing results will be superior if done on PC's as the new muscles are now up to speed such as to not be such a limiting factor in performance while regular cranks allow reversion to a less efficient style, even though the muscles are adequately trained, because the brain is incompletely trained because regular cranks allow same.
