Are you aware of what specific lactate levels indicate? Ie; what is a normal resting level, in general what level is ideal for aerobic "base training".
Not specifically. I have never used lactate testing for rest periods before. That is why I asked the follow up question. Do you have a source of general info I can read through?
And just for background.....I use 4mmL as my AT. I'm an old school trainer so I run 'steady runs' (3 or 4 miles at 5:00 pace) two times per week. That is what I consider a strong aerobic effort. When I tested my lactate after that run last week, it was 2.3 mmL. A bit lower than I expected. I also run one hard workout per week (this week was 8 X 1000 with 60 secs rest. Ran the 1000's at 3:00). My lactate at the end of the 1000's was 8.4 which was about perfect.
On my easy days, I run really easy. Like 5 miles at 7:30 pace. I only run this much because of time and family constraints. Sunday, I run long and easy (90 minutes or so).
I want to learn to use the Lactate Pro as I have learned to use the HR monitor. However, I think lactate is far superior to monitoring HR.
And, I always test myself immediately following exercise.....no warm down, etc. I asked the first question because I didn't know how fast the body could eliminate lactate and the reading I was getting was pretty low.
Thanks for all of your time in responding.
